#321 Sponsorship application for tc01
Closed: accepted Opened by tc01.

The sponsorship process gets talked about occasionally on the devel list and one thing that comes up is that many sponsors are burnt out or overworked. It occurred to me today that I've been a packager for a few years, I maintain a bunch of packages, and I've done a number of reviews, so... perhaps I'm knowledgeable enough to help out now by becoming a sponsor myself.

It took me two years to get sponsored, for various reasons (I believe it was back in 2012 that I first started learning to create Fedora packages). I'd like to become a sponsor with the hope of preventing this from happening to other potential contributors.

Here's a list of the reviews I've done and here's a list of the packages I maintain. I'm not sure what exactly the threshold for a "nontrivial" review is, but I'd consider the following to be relatively nontrivial packages (in comparison to say, a single nodejs or python module).

  • https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1342743
  • https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1465676
  • https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1468766

I have a variety of packaging interests in Fedora: I maintain a bunch of C/C++ and Python packages and have an interest in the games SIG, but more recently I've also been working on some nodejs and ocaml packaging. (And I'm a scientist in real life, so I will likely end up contributing some scientific packages in the future, as they become relevant to my work).

Thanks in advance for your consideration!

Sent to sponsors for feedback (sorry for the delay on doing so).

+1 from me.

+1 (and kudos for a sponsorship ticket which includes all the relevant info)

+1

I see you examine packages from bottom up and not only based on running the fedora-review tool, and you also link individual packaging guidelines sections.

Sorry again for delays. I see 7 +1s and 0 -1s so this request is approved.

Use your powers wisely.
