Hi All! :)
I am a new packager seeking sponsorship for my package quickemu.
quickemu
My aim with this package is to serve as my entry into the Fedora packaging and maintainership community using something which is quite simple, easy to maintain, and which I use myself on a daily basis.
Longer term, once I get the hang of things, my aim is to try and improve the state of some of the FOSS security tool packaging for the RHEL ecosystem. Definitely a long-term goal but I have a few things in mind which I think would benefit from being taken through the whole Fedora > EPEL > CentOS Stream > RHEL flow.
For now though, I'm keen to get on board and help maintain this one.
I have gone through the review process already here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2332914
I'm not the maintainer of the software upstream but I have contributed a few PRs to it already and I am familiar with the codebase. I have some more ideas for future contributions I want to make too.
If I can find someone to sponsor me and adopt this package into Fedora, I'll make all the relevant changes to the upstream documentation to reflect that.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help on the next steps - thanks all!
I've talked with Alex about getting started as a packager before, and indeed handled the package review linked above. I can act as sponsor.
Alex, please ping me on matrix at @decathorpe:fedora.im (my preference, if possible) or send me an email (if you don't have Matrix or prefer email over Matrix), then we can talk through the next steps, and I can guide you through the process / act as mentor for when you import your first package.
I have just added @alexhaydock to the "packager" group.
