Hyphenated usernames cannot be tagged in comment fields
In an issue discussion, recently I tried tagging @sarah-thornton (profile) who has a hyphenated username. However, while the username automatic completion (i.e. after typing "@") successfully identifies her user account, the connection is not kept in a rendered comment. See fedora-diversity#237.
This may not have been an issue until the new authentication system was released for the Fedora Account System. I don't remember whether hyphens were allowed characters in the old system.
Users with hyphenated usernames should have their usernames correctly linked in comment field and also send a notification (e.g. email) to the user who is tagged.
I'm not sure if additional characters are supported in the new Fedora Account System that weren't in the old system, but it could be a good idea to check and confirm in case it happens with other characters too.
Users with hyphenated usernames can be tagged in discussions and notified via email when their username is tagged in a comment
