Rebased the commit to fix a couple of formatting issues that were causing the flake8 test to fail.

Seems to work fine for comments, I'm not sure for notifications (flask keeps on failing with Broken pipe... :()

Anyway, it's better than what we have now, so I'm going to merge as is and we cann poke more at this when it's in staging.
