I was the maintainer until a few days ago but that it did not build fell off my radar. I fixed the build and would like to unretire the package

It says that the f40 branch is retired. How can I enable the branch again?

I think you should request a branch first using fedpkg request-branch, and it should go to the fedora-scm-request and should create one for you automatically, atm there is no f40 branch in dist-git:https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/j4-dmenu-desktop/branches?branchname=rawhide

And the link does show an f40 branch as last branch under "Inactive Branches" for me.

Ok I re-read the ticket, and I confused it with some other issue, so I thought since it was not mentioned the unretirement request was just for rawhide, but all good now this should be reverted from the f40 branch hopefully, need to check why it is still reported as an inactive branch and while i run PDC adjust-eol on it

Ok I think now I know why this is happening, we need to add f39, f40 here as well: https://pagure.io/releng/c/23a431efb7ad802af7ebb6b7a244682bc41149fd?branch=main to make this work, I'll check this once~
