gcompris has been orphaned by its original owner and as co-maintainer and de-factor maintainer for the last xxx years I would like to become owner of gcompris before it gets removed from the distro because it has been orphaned.

Before orphaned packages are pruned.

When is this no longer needed or useful? (YYYY/MM/DD)
After orphaned packages are pruned.

If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact?
gcompris will be removed and children using this educational suite will have to do without it.
