#1461 Editing files from the web UI seems to be broken

To reproduce

Create a new repository and check "Create README.md"
Navigate to "Files" and open README.md
Remove the contents of the file and attempt to commit it
Take a look at the "Commits" tab.

The POST returns with HTTP 200, but the commit does not appear to be made.
